Mineral Mania Monday

My Escape shadow arrived and I'm in love again. Barely isn't quite the highlight for which I'm looking. It is slightly darker than my skin and matte. I somehow missed it was a matte and a little pearl to the finish suits me better.  Then there was the surprise sample of Jaded which is very pretty, but I need another green to go with it.

Blush and Shadow 50% Off full sizes!  I'm so excited and had to control myself because I love LaurEss!  I ordered Escape shadow because my husband took extra notice when I wore it the first time. I also couldn't resist a sample as I'm still trying to find that perfect highlight shadow. My eyes are brownish green hazel, so if yours are too, Escape is a must have.

Lumiere Brush Regrets

I know I don't have a lot of followers and the ones I do I'm not even sure if they are that interested in mineral makeup and brushes, but just incase someone is I wanted to share this:

I now regret not buying the Travel Kabuki! What was I thinking? I've been wanting a soft travel kabuki for a long time now.  I was thinking I'm already spending money on brushes that I don't need, could really use though and to feed my want of every brush to match. The fact that the kabuki is not my favorite for applying foundation, but a flat top or buffer brush is and a kabuki is slightly dense for my liking of powder application and slightly large for blush.  Also I don't travel much.  Hello Maria!  When I do travel with makeup this travel kabuki would be perfect.

This is why if you order you should get a travel kabuki:

• Self Contained~Clean
• Half Way Out of Tube~ Heavier Foundation Application (like a buffer)
• Three-Quaters Out~Blush Application
  
• All the Way Out~Powder Application
• Takes Up Less Space~Great for Purse

In between each product one can wipe excess product on a tissue or baby/facial wipe.  In a pinch one could even use it to wash on some eye shadow.  I know I've used my Kabuki as a shadow blender in the past.

Lumiere Pre-Buy Brushes!

My sil and I are going in together so I can save on shipping and insurance. I was too money conscience to spend $8 on it, but $4 is okay. lol  I haven't totally decided what I'm getting, but I know I'm getting the small buffer brush, duo fiber brush $7 ,comparable to MAC 187 that commands $42!, duo fiber blush brush, two pencil eye shadow brushes and maybe another brush or two.

The prices are fabulous and the quality is excellent too. I have a Long Handled Kabuki from last year's pre-buy and it is still super soft. All Taklon even the duo fiber which is ofter a mix of synthetic and pony. The only real complaint I have is my shadow brushes from the travel kit poke my eyelid. Those are a little too stiff and dense for my liking.

This time around the brushes are going to be hot pink and black so totally cute and fun if you have a young lady that loves pink.

This was my second or third mineral company I tried. The formula has changed slightly which I haven't tried.  What I did try was nice light to medium coverage. The Vanilla shade was perfect.  My mom enjoyed OM's eye shadow as it didn't irritate her eyes like Everyday Minerals did. Overall Ocean Mist is a nice company with a nice line.

The Conservatorie Mineral Foundation

I decided to take a chance on The Conservatorie's Foundation Base and Foundation Color Blend.  I bought an ounce of the Premium Base, 1 tsp Premium Plus Base  and 1 tsp Warm Color Blend.   I also bought some silicone gel for $1.50.  So with the sale I spent under $15 including s&h for 30g of foundation. This is a great deal if you don't mind mixing your own custom shade.  It comes out to $.50/g which is about a third of the cost of pre-made foundations from companies that I've previously mentioned.  Bare Escentuals Minerals,you get about 9g for $25 so you'd pay $75 to get what I did for $15.  

I tried the Premium Plus first. I used 1 tsp of it to 1/32 t (little tiny white scoop)of color blend.  I am quite fair for reference. If you are average skintone you may need a scoop and a half.  It's simple to adjust if you use the little spoon for both the base and the color and keep notes.  The Premium Plus has a nice coverage and not heavy at all. The Warm Blend is quite warm so if you are a beige you might need to mix the Cool and Warm or try the Cocoa Blend.  You'll want around a 10g or 20 g jar to put your tsp or two of foundation.

The Silicone Gel is to give one's skin a smooth appearance. I've tried it in the past and didn't notice a difference so I tried it again and nope no difference for me, but others love it.

The one downside to ordering from The Conservatorie is their customer service. They lack greatly in answering any questions you send via email. Very disappointing if you're in a hurry to order and not sure on the colors. I'm so used to the owners of pre-made minerals answering quickly and cheerfully.

Wonderful prices and fantastic customer service.  They are only lacking in the price of premade bases and I don't think they have color blends. They do offer a free formulator if you wish to make your own.

I might be trying the Premium Foundation Base and the Warm Blend to mix into it. The nice thing about that is you can adjust the color as your skin changes with the seasons!

Now I no longer order from Monave because I've found other foundations I like better, but this was my first full coverage love.
